GENERAL FUNCTION:

Assists in all aspects of our event coverage and programming as part of C-SPAN's Campaign 2020 presidential politics coverage.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists Producers in tracking presidential candidate campaign schedules and information.
  • Makes inquiries to campaigns, based on Producer questions and required information.
  • Schedules politics phone interviews to be used on all C-SPAN platforms with editorial guidance from Producers and Political Editor.
  • On a daily/regular basis, processes phone interviews, campaign ads and other relevant material to be used on TV, radio and the web.
  • Serves as studio control Production Assistant for any politics programming, including candidate interviews, studio-produced programming around live events and primary/caucus night coverage.
  • Other duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND/SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications or Political Science.
  • Interest in and knowledge of campaigns and politics.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including days, nights and weekends.
  • Ability to work independently as well as under the direction of Producers and Associate Producers within strict time constraints.
  • Adherence to high quality control standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Good organizational, grammatical and spelling skills.
  • Proficient typing and computer skills.
  • Ability to follow directions accurately.
