Produces - and delivers on-air - brief news and information inserts for C-SPAN's Washington Journal program. Duties include identifying new and contextual information being reported about Washington policies, politics and its key players in social media and online news sources. Responsible for organizing how this information is presented during the program, Monday-Friday.


  • Culls a variety of online sources & social media to find new information about politics and public policy and incorporates into live program as news inserts.
  • Researches information to provide context to or make connections about the workings of Washington.
  • Gathers video/graphic elements for these inserts.
  • Works with the program's production staff to present this information on air.
  • Produces other segments for the program.
  • Represents C-SPAN to outsiders and cultivates contacts.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Minimum four years relevant work experience including television or radio public affairs reporting or production.
  • On-air, television or radio, experience preferred.
  • Strong social media skills and extensive knowledge of news and information sources.
  • Strong understanding of how Washington & Capitol Hill work and its key players.
  • Strong familiarity of C-SPAN mission and programming.
  • Excellent communication skills necessary.
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Political Science or Radio/TV.
  • Ability to work early mornings five days a week.
